本盤の音源は、GSの解散(=消滅?)から10年が経った1981年にビクターから5枚組で発売されたグループサウンズのリード・シンガー達を中心とした企画盤レコードです。当時のレコード帯には、
<新録音盤>『あのGSのスター達が、懐かしの名曲を全曲新吹込みした画期的アルバム!!』と記載されていました。本CDはその中から40曲をピックアップして1992年にCD2枚組でリリースされたBEST盤(?)です。
但し、ココには収録されなかった曲の中にこそ超レアな楽曲が含まれています。その一つがザ・テンプターズの「忘れ得ぬ君」「おかあさん」の2曲で松崎氏を含む3名(萩原・大口両氏は欠席)が参加しておりギターの音色もあの特長のある音色を聴けばヨッチンの音と思われます。テンプターズは、解散後全く再結成のないままにメンバーが他界したバンドですので、この2曲こそが残された80年代の音源と言えるでしょう。もう一つは、この時期オリジナル・メンバー(5人)で再活躍を続けていたザ・ジャガーズの音源です。他のテイクがボーカルのみの再演ですが、ジャガーズがこのシリーズに残した6曲はバンドとしての<80年代の音>であり90年代までライヴバンドとして現役を貫いた貴重な音源となります。それ故に1曲もこのBEST CDに収録されなかったのは発売元ビクターとの確執があったのかも知れませんね。これらの音源を含めた全LP分のCD化が是非にも叶いますように！
尚、ザ・ゴールデン・カップスの全5曲は、デイヴ平尾氏のソロCD[DIVE HIRAO ANOTHER COLLECTION 1970-1981](2009年発売)に収録されました。
この5枚組レコード・シリーズがリリースされた1981年という年は、グループサウンズのレコード達はひっそりと古レコード屋さんの棚に汚れたビニールに包まれて埋もれ、陽の当たらない状況でした。遠慮がちに「オックスのシングルを探しています！」なんて店員さんに聞くのは今でいうヲタク以上に「HENTAI」というムードさえありました。しかしサヨナラ日劇公演でタイガースやスパイダースが一時的に活動したり、翌年1982年にはザ・タイガースの新譜LPおよび全国ツアーなど、解散から10年を過ぎ再びGSのリバイバル・ブームがスタートしました。今考えるとこのレコード企画が一つの契機だったのかも知れませんね。
大切にしまってありましたが、盤面は奇麗ですが、プラケースに経年の色あせ(画像1-左の黄色い部分、ジャケットのシミのように見えるのは元々の柄模様です)があります。保管期間は長かったので、神経質な方はご遠慮下さい。ノークレームノーリターンでお願い致します。迅速な発送を心がけます。

The sound source of this album is a 5-CD set released by Victor in 1981, 10 years after GS broke up (=disappeared?), focusing on the lead singers of group sounds. The record jacket at the time said,
<New Recording> "A groundbreaking album in which the stars of GS record all of their nostalgic hits!!" This CD is a BEST(?) album that selected 40 songs from that album and released in 1992 as a 2-CD set.
However, among the songs that were not included here are some super rare songs. One of them is The Tempters' "Wasurenu Kimi" and "Okaasan", which feature three people including Matsuzaki (Hagiwara and Oguchi were absent), and the guitar tone is reminiscent of Yocchin's sound when you listen to it. The Tempters are a band whose members have passed away without ever reuniting after their breakup, so these two songs are the only recordings from the 1980s that remain. The other is a recording of The Jaguars, who were active again with their original members (5 people) during this period. While the other takes are re-performances of the vocals only, the six songs that the Jaguars left in this series are the band's "80s sound," and are valuable recordings of the band's continued activity as a live band into the 90s. Therefore, none of the songs were included in this BEST CD, perhaps due to a feud with Victor, the distributor. I hope that all of the LPs, including these recordings, will be released on CD!
In addition, all five songs by The Golden Cups were included in Dave Hirao's solo CD [DIVE HIRAO ANOTHER COLLECTION 1970-1981] (released in 2009).
In 1981, when this five-disc record series was released, group sounds records were quietly buried in dirty plastic on the shelves of old record stores, out of the sunlight. Asking the store clerk timidly, "I'm looking for an Ox single!" was even more of a "pervert" mood than what we would call a nerd today. However, the Tigers and Spiders were active for a time at the Farewell Nichigeki concert, and the following year in 1982, The Tigers released a new LP and had a national tour, and so a GS revival boom began again, 10 years after the band's disbandment. Looking back, this record project may have been one of the catalysts.
It has been carefully stored away, and although the record surface is clean, it has been stored for a long time, so please refrain from purchasing if you are sensitive about such things. No claims or returns will be accepted. I will do my best to ship the item promptly.
